Iberamond Fenn

A disgraced Monk who took up a life of piracy

Bio:

Iberamond grew up in a small monastery on the rocky shores of an island in the Korinn Archipelago. The lone survivor of a shipwreck before he was old enough to even walk the Monks saw him as a gift from the gods to help in their holy cause. Named Fenn after the thicket of plants he was found curled up in, Iberamond was raised, trained and loved by the Monks. However, by his adolescent years he had grown weary and bored of the coddling and chaste lifestyle. His relative freedom of the islands allowed him to brew potent spirits away from the eyes of the Brotherhood. He began to disappear for longer and longer periods. The Monks, having become frustrated at Iberamond’s growing lack of interest in their teachings and sudden disappearances chose to follow him on one of his late-night expeditions. It was then that his makeshift brewing antics were unveiled.
The Monks were furious at this betrayal and banished Iberamond from their lands. As their lands ended in the ocean that is where he was sent. A small boat and 2 days provisions were given to him as a last mercy. Iberamond had little sailing experience, and before long the weather had turned sour. The winds rose, the mast snapped, and before long Iberamond was sailing little more than a bundle of sticks. When all seemed lost, a boat appeared from the mist. Ropes were lowered and he climbed to safety. Alighting on the deck he saw that safety was still a long way away. Pirates.
It didn’t take long for the pirates to decide he held nothing of value and that the best course of action was to put him back in the water. The burly deckhand who attempted to follow up on this idea quickly found himself plummeting towards towards the water himself, shortly followed by one of his friends. Captain Roal of the Mourning Star, saw a potential ally in this young Monk and offered a deal. One week working on the ship in exchange for safe passage to the mainland with plentiful supplies. Iberamond agreed. Little did he know how well the pirate life would agree with him.
10 years later Iberamond is the first mate of the Mourning Star, never aspiring for Captaincy. The crew still stand in awe of his battle prowess. A small man, dressed in ragged clothes, eyes unfocused and bearing no arms, many enemy takes him for an easy target and finds themselves waking a few minutes later with no ship and no idea how they ended up on the ground. The crew loved their little Monk, but the name Iberamond Fenn was a bit too much of a mouthful for some of them, and it didn’t take long for him to become known as Brother Bear.
But now Brother Bear sits slouching in a cell. A simple river raid of the town of Daggerford turned out to be a trap. Captain Roal lies dead at the bottom of the riverbed along with most of the crew, filled with arrows fired by the Order of Archaii. He’s waiting patiently, for something. For anything. His head hurts.
